DIFFICULTY LEVELS

TREKKING DIFFICULTY LEVELS

Difficulty level 1 (Easy): Slope of walking track is low. Hiking, in other words climbing, is at a minimum level. The climbing does not exceed 100 meters. Total walking distance is around 8 kilometers. Walking duration does not exceed 4 hours. Wide walkways, stabilized village and forest roads are used. Beginners and anyone not having any health issue can participate to these walks.

Difficulty level 2 (Average): Slope of walking track is low. There are minor climbs that do not exceed 300 meters, in total. Total walking distance is around 12 kilometers. Total walking duration does not exceed 4 or 5 hours. Wide walkways, stabilized village and forest roads are used. Suitable for anyone who completed a few easy trekking paths and achieved a certain level of physical condition.

Difficulty level 3 (Average Difficult): Slope of walking increases. Climbing does not exceed 500 meters. You might have to walk through narrower pathways and sometimes through dense forests and scree regions. There are more numbers of wet passages. Total walking duration does not exceed 6 or 7 hours. Total walking distance is around 15 to 16 kilometers. These walks are suitable for anyone who has good physical condition and sufficient trekking experience.

Difficulty level 4 (Difficult): Slope of walking starts to increase even more. Climbs might reach up to 700 meters. Trails will be in bad condition or will not exist at some locations. Forestland, if any, will be denser. You will have to walk through rockier and scree land. There might be couple of hour long canyoning activities. Total walking duration does not exceed 8 or 9 hours. Suitable for athletic, experienced people with good physical condition.

Difficulty level 5 (Very Difficult): Slope of walking is difficult. You will have to walk through very hard, sometimes stony and rocky lands without any trails and forestlands. Climbs start to exceed 1000 meters and these walks on challenging land conditions require following a route for a long time. The guide must be very experienced. Camping might be necessary. Total walking duration is approximately 10 hours. These very difficult walks are suitable athletic, experienced hikers with good physical condition.

VARIABLES

- Weather conditions

- Time of the day

- Time of the year

- Weight carried

- Physical condition and experience of the hiker

- Definitions of distance and altitude changes are relative because big changes in distance or altitude increase the difficulty level even if other factors remain the same

- Distance travelled
