Transportation to the beginning of the course: The vehicle leaving from Konak can either follow the seaside road through Güzelbahçe or go on the highway. The road turning right, after passing Ulamış village in the Seferihisar direction, comes to the Turgut village – Düzce village crossroad. The road on the right leads to Turgut village and the road on the left leads to Düzce village. The road leading to Turgut divides into two in 38° m. The road on the right goes to Turgut, the road on the left goes to Azmak. The distance between Azmak – Demirköprü is 5200 m.

For public transportation, go to the Fahrettin Altay transfer center in Üçkuyular by taking the municipal bus first and then the metro or the ferry. You can take the Seferihisar – F.Altay municipal bus number 730 from the bus terminal in Üçkuyular and from there, the Urla – Seferihisar bus number 732 to get to Turgut village center. The distance between Turgut village and Azmak is 5000 m. There is a vehicle road but no service. Transportation is possible by private vehicle or on foot.

Structure of the course: The course is in an area where there are a lot of shrubs and small cliffs. The soil structure is of solid rocks or extended scree. It is a course with access throughout every season however the summer season is not favorable for hiking due to the heat. There are stream passes. From February onwards, all streams, except for Altınkoy, allow passage. You have to be mindful of the private lands; there are no fences or obstacles.

Details of the course: You walk ahead 300 m from the beginning point, which is the seaside. Continuing 200 m on the vehicle road, the pathway starts on the left. There is a collapsed canal to the right of the road and there are artichoke fields around it. Shrubland begins when you enter the pathway. The pathway is wide and is used as a footpath. The ascending pathway divides into two. You continue to the left. At this point, the tractor road begins and the road divides into two. The ascending road on the right leads down to the shore on the left. The sea is at a distance of 400 m. You enter the stream bed from the road that leads to the shore and the pathway when you turn right. There are dense shrubs on the right. There is a road right across from the junction where the tractor road is. Ascending 20 m, the pathway closes amongst rocks and shrubs.

There is a dried up stream bed covered in shrubs on the right 1500 m from the beginning point. There are sporadic pine trees around. The pathway leads to an open area which is the starting point of the dried up stream on the right. This is a convenient area to take a break. Turning left from the open area and going through the 20 m closed shrubland, you reach the pathway leading to the plain on the top of the hill. Altınköy can be seen ahead. There are two cell towers on the left. You follow the pathway to Altınkoy, reaching the asphalt road next to the Altınkoy mass houses. You first pass the bridge on the stream and then the iron gate on the road descending to the shore; continuing on the tractor road on the shore, leaving the sea to your left. When the tractor road ends, the 20 m pathway, filled with rocks that require a careful descend, begins. Passing the dried up stream bed and dense shrubs, you end up on a plain. The rocks need to be passed carefully. Walking around the cape through the open area on the cliffs to the left, you can reach the first bay at the end. There are shrublands, scree cliffs and sparse pathways 7450 m from the beginning point. In 350 m, following the pathway covered in prickly thrifts and sparse thorny plants, you reach the point where the valley connects with the sea. You walk on the pathway towards the cape. The remains of the ancient city of Airai can be seen at the tip of the cape. The Yıldız Camping Site is within the bay. There are artichoke fields behind it. Keeping the artichoke fields on the right, the stabilized vehicle road should be followed. There is a fishing port right across. Passing a small stream, you reach Demircili shore.

Natural and historical values:
  • City of Airai (Erai): It is near Demircili village that is on the north shore of the north port of the ancient city of Teos that is Sığacık Bay today. The remains of the ancient city on the “island” consist only of a few pedestals, architectural structures and pottery fragments spread around. It can be understood that the remains of Airai were carried by sea before Demircili village was established. The pristine bays, clean sea and unmatched views are the greatest values the course presents.
