Transportation to the beginning of the course: By a private vehicle, take the Urla exit on the İzmir - Çeşme highway, arrive in İskele. For public transportation vehicles, go to the Fahrettin Altay transfer center either by metro or the municipal buses. From here, arrive to Urla center by taking the bus numbered 725. Also, there is a regular minibus service from the Fahrettin Altay bus terminal to Urla Çeşmealtı which also goes by İskele.
Details of the course: Klazomenai is an ancient Ionian city within the borders of Urla situated 38 km west of İzmir, on the southern coastline of the Gulf of İzmir. Klazomenai was notable for its olive oil trade and traces of an olive oil atelier that dates back to the 6th century B.C. were found. Thanks to long lasting endeavors, the atelier was restored according to its original layout. The atelier, accepted as the ancestor of present day's olive oil extraction system, and the ancient city can be visited.
You can arrive to Burgaz Village by following the direction signs from Urla İskele. Throughout the road, there are several excursion spots. You can have short breaks at these spots, and gaze at Hekim Island, Uzunada and Çiçek Island. From another excursion spot, Karantina Island can be viewed. Burgaz Village is extremely rich in ancient olive trees. You can arrive to Özbek Village again by following the direction signs.
Three abandoned mills and a continuous system olive oil factory are present in Özbek. A registered cypress tree is there at the garden of Eşrefoğlu Ahmet olive oil atelier. Moreover, a registered Turkish bath, a bridge from the Ottoman period, a fountain and an ancient launderette from the Romans can be seen. Özbek Village, just like Burgaz, is rich in ancient olive trees.
Several very old olive trees can be seen on the road from Özbek to Yuvaca. There are no olive oil ateliers at Yuvaca; however, there are many ancient olive trees around the fountain in the region.
