Transportation to the beginning of the course: To reach ancient city of Teos, 61 km away from Konak by private vehicle, you need to go to the Seferihisar crossroads on the İzmir-Çeşme highway. From the Seferihisar- Güzelbahçe fork, you need to turn to Seferihisar. Then you should follow the ancient city of Teos road signs in the district center. After reaching Sığacık, by following the asphalt road, you should pass the Teos forest picnic field. The asphalt road ends in front of the excavation house in the ancient city. You can arrive to the Ancient Port by taking the earth road on the south.
If you prefer to use public transportation, first you need to go to the Fahrettin Altay transfer center in Üçkuyular by bus, subway or ferry. From the Üçkuyular district bus terminal, you can arrive at Seferihisar district center by bus no 730. From there, you can reach Sığacık or the ancient city of Teos by a minibus or private vehicle. The distance between Seferihisar and Teos is 7 km.
Structure of the course: Starting from the remains of the ancient port, the course links with Sığacık district center through an asphalt road by following the remains of the ancient city and the earth roads between gardens. The route which does not involve high ridges and mostly continues on flat fields is convenient to walking in any season.
Details of the course: The earth road stretching north from the Ancient Port goes on to the right side of the sporadically apparent city walls. After 750 m, you will arrive at thr Agora Port and Agora; you can see the debris of the buildings in the port. The road continuing from the Agora Port goes right to the ancient city’s wall until Sığacık. To see the places surrounding the ancient city of Teos, you should turn 27° degrees to the left and face the Agora and the Agora Temple. On the northwest of this point, there is an ancient parliament building. After parliament building, the road splits into two. You need to go forward for 300 m southwest to the ancient cistern. From the ancient cistern, you can go to the temple of Dionysus, the wine god. The road heading north and the road heading northwest from the parliament building join in front of the ancient theater. The distance between the cistern and the ancient theater is 440 m. The road continuing northwest from the theater arrives at the excavation house. At the excavation house, the road splits into two. The road going south, through the north of the city walls, reaches the ancient port in front of the watch box. On the other hand, the road going north arrives at Sığacık. When you reach the main road, the course goes on towards northeast and ends at the entry of Kaleiçi.
Alternative routes connected to the course: It joins with the Sığacık –Azmak course if you head towards north and with the Kavakdere course coming from Seferihisar on the east.
Water resources: Although there are three wells in ancient city of Teos, there is no potable water on the course.
Camping sites: There are two convenient places to set up camp; the field on the coordinates of (38°10’17.01”N / 26°47’20.40”E), also known as Özcan’s Place to the west of the ancient port and the picnic area in the Teos forest.
Shopping and accommodation: The most convenient place to shop on the course is Sığacık which is 5 km away from the ancient port. There are lots of boarding houses, boutique hotels and coffee houses in Kaleiçi. On Sundays, besides the products grown in the region, you can buy homemade products like jam, tarhana, noodles or pickles in the Sığacık Producer Bazaar set up in Kaleiçi.
